Linocutting Work
HOW IT IS MADE
Sustainable & Upcycled Art Project
I am deeply invested in the art of handmade papermaking. My specialty sheets are born from the remnants of everyday life — shredded junk mail, old bills, and discarded advertisements, and formed through my homemade mold & deckle.
Each print is brought to life with hand-carved linoleum stamps, their designs pressed onto the paper with custom textile ink. This ink is a fusion of natural elements—ashes, charcoal, and soot—blended with a touch of oil to create a rich, sustainable medium.
CREATION PROCESS
Paper making
My handmade sheets of paper are created outside in the Arizona sun. They’re composed of shredded mail, utility bills, and whatever I can get my hands on at the time to pulverize, making each one strictly unique.
My new mold & deckle for papermaking is also handmade! Created from unneeded canvas frames, plus some window mesh, I have found a way to create custom sizes.
I draw out my design on paper, trace it on wax paper, and use a marker to indicate what to cut on my linoleum slab.
I use my custom ink mixture to roll a thin layer of stamping material onto my linoleum carve out.

SUSTAINABILITY PROJECT
To match my handmade paper, I realized my next step was creating ink from scratch to use in my prints.
Recreating the desert around me with all natural and recycled materials has created one-of-a-kind prints.
