Cyanotyping & Eco Printing
Cyanotyping is one of the oldest photographic printing processes. It is known for deep Prussian blue tones and silhouette forms. I coat my paper with my custom mixed light sensitive solution and placing my transparencies on top, and then exposing them to the sun. This is where my passion for both physics and art meet; whatever photons touch turns a brilliant blue.
Process
One
I create digital drawings. Light sensitive chemical paper is made in a dark room.
Four
Sun exposure is monitored & timed. Pre-washed, fully developed image depicted here.
Two
Drawings are printed on transparency film.
Five
Images undergo various baths, some with hydrogen peroxide.
Three
Processed in the sun, overlayed with a slab of glass.
Six
Dried, embellished & framed.
Tea Bag Art
MIXED MEDIA / TINY PROJECT
In my latest set of works, I layered my interests and created a fusion between graphic design, cyanotype printing and acrylic painting, while capturing all the subjects and styles I appreciates most. My art was created on upcycled bags of tea, only slightly larger than two inches large, to add to the challenge.
